XIX - The Sun?

XIX - The Sun? is an unlockable card added in The Binding of Isaac: Repentance.

Effects

For the duration of the current floor:
- Grants Spirit of the Night and +1.5 Damage.
- Turns Isaac's red heart containers into bone hearts.
- Causes a Curse of Darkness that cannot be dispelled.

Notes

When the effect reverts, all bone hearts remaining will be restored to heart containers.
- Actual bone hearts remain unchanged.
- If Isaac travels to the next floor with only empty temporary bone hearts (either by donation or with Crow Heart), he will die as his resulting health after reverting are only empty heart containers.
The card's effect persists in the Knife Piece 2 abandoned area, allowing for easier completion of the chase sequence if flight was not acquired before.
Picking up health-increasing items while XIX - The Sun?'s effect is active will add normal heart containers.
- Using XIX - The Sun? again will convert them into bone hearts.

Strategy

XIX - The Sun? negates the downsides of items that remove heart containers on pickup (such as Dead Cat and Brittle Bones) since it converts all heart containers into Bone Hearts.
The bone hearts allow for more uses of the Sacrifice Room.

Interactions

Night Light: Curse of Darkness is not removed, regardless of whether Night Light is picked up before or after using the card. However, the visual effect is still lessened.
Tarot Cloth: No effect.

Bugs

Bug!	As Tainted Lazarus, all effects of XIX - The Sun? except bone heart conversion and sprite change will disappear when flipping.

Bug!	Entering the Knife Piece 2 area while under the effects of XIX - The Sun? will cause a visual bug wherein Isaac will revert to his default appearance but still be capable of flight and spectral tears.
