Item Quality

Item quality is a hidden item mechanic added in The Binding of Isaac: Repentance, assigned to all items. The quality ranges from 0 to 4 and causes them to behave differently with certain items or automatically get rerolled if certain conditions are met.

Mechanics Affected

• Bag of Crafting: Determines what kind of item is given by the bag, depending on the pickups put into it.
• Birthright ( Tainted Bethany): The Lemegeton wisps spawned by this item are guaranteed to be quality 3 or higher.
• NO!: If multiple copies, Mom's Box, or a golden version of the trinket is held, items with quality 0 are rerolled.
• Sacred Orb: Automatically rerolls items with a quality of 0 or 1, and has a 33% chance to reroll items with a quality of 2.
• Tainted Lost: 20% chance of rerolling items with a quality of 2 or less.
• Abyss: The damage locusts deal is dependent on the quality of the item destroyed.
