False PHD

False PHD is a passive item added in The Binding of Isaac: Repentance.

Effects

Identifies all pills upon pickup.
Spawns a pill.
Grants one Black Heart on pickup.
Converts all good pills into their bad counterparts.
Grants +0.6 damage for each stat down pill and +1.2 damage for each stat down horse pill Isaac has taken, including those taken before acquiring False PHD.
Using a non-stat down bad pill drops a Black Heart.

Bad Trip and Health Down pills will turn into I Found Pills when Isaac is at one heart.
Neutral pills will not have a secondary effect.
Telepills will be converted to ??? even if the latter has not yet been unlocked.
Gulp! and Vurp! will be converted to Horf! even if the latter has not yet been unlocked.
Pills are only converted while held by a character with False PHD. For example: If playing as Jacob and Esau and Jacob has this item, pills that got converted into 'bad' pills like a Tears Down pill can be given to Esau to convert them back into whatever the pill was originally.
Losing the item by either dropping it as Tainted Isaac or re-rolling it via D4, etc., causes the damage buffs given to be removed.
With Little Baggy and False PHD, the Marked Skull in Depths II will drop a ??? pill, making it much harder to open A Strange Door that run.
This item can be crafted from Bag of Crafting with seven pills and one Black Heart.

A Pony/White Pony: Effectively converts all Speed Down pills into Damage Up as long as one of the ponies are being held, since they will always give a minimum of 1.5 speed.
Black Feather: Counts as an evil item, granting a damage up.
Lucky Foot / PHD / Virgo: Pills can now be both good and bad again. The other effects of False PHD still apply when taking bad pills.
- Getting multiple of the pill-upgrading items has no effect, bad pills can still appear.
The Wafer: Using a Bad Trip pill will only deal half a heart of damage and spawn a full Black Heart, resulting in a net gain of health.
- The Wafer + Placebo: Allows for farming infinite health using Bad Trip pills.
Rock Bottom: Prevents stat-decreasing pills from decreasing your current stats. They still have an effect in the background, making it more difficult to raise that stat in the future.
