  • Deals a half-heart of damage when touched. (in Repentance and Repentance+) This damage is considered to be from a hostile source, not self-inflicted. Collectible Pyromaniac icon.pngPyromaniac and Collectible Hot Bombs icon.pngHot Bombs will prevent this damage.
  • Can be extinguished by tears, bombs, or explosions.
  • 25% chance to drop coins (75% chance) or hearts (25% chance) when extinguished.
    • (in Repentance and Repentance+) The chance to drop a reward is reduced to 10% while playing on Hard Mode.
  • Piercing tears and (except in Rebirth)Collectible Explosivo icon.pngExplosivo shots can pierce through fire places and all of their variants. (except in Repentance and Repentance+) Spectral tears, however, are blocked.
  • (in Repentance and Repentance+) Spectral tears can pierce through fire places.

Red Fire Place

  • Can shoot red projectiles at medium speed at Isaac.
    • (except in Repentance and Repentance+) They do not telegraph before firing shots.
    • (in Repentance and Repentance+) Red Fire Places have a bounce animation before firing.
    • (in Repentance and Repentance+) They fire a projectile only once until Isaac re-enters the room.
  • Shots fired from a Red Fire Place will not spawn directly on the Red Fire Place, but rather near the fire.
    • If Isaac stands too close when a Red Fire Place shoots, the bullet will spawn on Isaac, thus the bullet can't be dodged.
    • (except in Repentance and Repentance+) Collectible Pyromaniac icon.pngPyromaniac makes Isaac immune to these bullets.
  • Can be extinguished like normal Fire Places.
  • 25% chance to drop coins (75% chance) or hearts (25% chance) when extinguished.
    • (in Repentance and Repentance+) The chance to drop a reward is reduced to 10% while playing on Hard Mode.
  • Can rarely replace normal Fire Places.
  • (except in Rebirth) Rarely, they'll appear in a room that needs to be cleared by pressing Pressure Plate.pngPressure Plates. When all are pressed, the Red Fire Places will turn into normal Fire Places.

Blue Fire Place

  • 25% chance to drop a Soul Heart.pngSoul Heart when extinguished.
    • (in Repentance and Repentance+) The chance to drop a Soul Heart is reduced to 10% while playing on Hard Mode.
  • Can only be put out by the following:
    • Bombs/explosions and rock blasts (such as from (except in Rebirth and Afterbirth)Collectible Wait What icon.pngWait What?).
    • (in Afterbirth †)Collectible Little Horn icon.pngLittle Horn tears.
    • (in Repentance and Repentance+) Teleporting on top of it with Collectible Stitches icon.pngStitches.
    • (in Repentance and Repentance+) Using Collectible Suplex! icon.pngSuplex! on it, then leaving and re-entering the room (likely a bug).
    • (in Repentance+) Making contact with an explosive locust made from Collectible Abyss icon.pngAbyss.

Purple Fire Place

  • Fires purple homing tears at Isaac.
    • (except in Repentance and Repentance+) The homing tears deal a full heart of damage.
    • (in Repentance and Repentance+) They fire a projectile only once until Isaac re-enters the room.
  • 25% chance to drop a Soul Heart.pngSoul Heart when extinguished.
    • (in Repentance and Repentance+) The chance to drop a Soul Heart is reduced to 10% while playing on Hard Mode.
  • Can only be put out the same way as Blue Fire Places.
  • Can rarely replace Blue Fire Places.
  • (except in Rebirth) Rarely, they'll appear in a room that needs to be cleared by pressing Pressure Plate.pngPressure Plates. When all are pressed, the Purple Fire Places will turn blue.

White Fire Place

(in Repentance and Repentance+)
  • Only spawns in specific rooms on DownpourDownpour II or DrossDross II, and there will only be one of these rooms on the floor. The room may contain multiple white fire places depending on the layout.
  • When Isaac touches the flame, he "dies" and becomes a ghost, which has the properties of Character The Lost icon.pngThe Lost (flight, spectral tears, no health, and the Collectible Holy Mantle icon.pngHoly Mantle).
    • The ghost will not have Holy Mantle if it is not yet unlocked for The Lost.
    • The ghost will not have Holy Mantle if the room has not been cleared.
    • The ghost can take a devil deal for free like The Lost can.
    • The ghost can collect health pickups, but these are applied to the main character once Isaac reverts to normal form.
  • While a ghost, Isaac can enter the mirrored world by walking into the mirror found on Downpour/Dross II.
  • Completing and exiting a hostile room outside of the mirror world will change Isaac back to normal.
    • However, traveling to the next floor as the ghost will not change Isaac back until a room is cleared on that floor.
  • As a ghost, the fire can be flown through as if it were an empty tile, with no other effects.
  • Can be extinguished by using Chaos CardChaos Card or by an explosion under the effect of Collectible Astral Projection icon.pngAstral Projection (bug) or Collectible Suplex! icon.pngSuplex! (bug).

Notes

  • All types of fire places deal 16 damage to enemies that come in contact with them.
  • (in Repentance and Repentance+) Normal and Red Fire Places are automatically extinguished in flooded rooms (including most rooms in Flooded CavesFlooded Caves). Using Collectible Flush! icon.pngFlush! will immediately put out all Normal and Red Fire Places in the room.
  • Unlike similar room obstacles, bombing a fire place will not create a walkable area over a pit.
