Flooded Caves
The Flooded Caves is one of the environments in chapter 2 added in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth. The theme of the Flooded Caves is water; as such, most of the enemies inhabiting it are airborne, such as One Tooth and flies, and many of them shoot projectiles, while there are fewer ground-bound and contact-damage-reliant enemies. Some enemies like the Hive have a chance to be replaced with their drowned variants and rocks have a chance to be replaced with water-filled pits.
The Flooded Cave's alternate floors are the Caves and the Catacombs.
After A Secret Exit is unlocked, a boarded door similar to the one leading to a Bedroom will appear in this floor's Boss Room upon defeating the boss, leading to the Mines / Ashpit. This door, like a Bedroom, requires two bombs to be opened. Unlike Angel Rooms and Devil Rooms, this door never disappears.
Though there is some overlap with Downpour due to both featuring water flooding, Downpour's unique enemies are often ghostly and supernatural in nature as opposed to the Flooded Cave's theme of drowned or bloated enemies.
The Flooded Caves are unlocked by defeating It Lives 16 times.
- Killing Dogma and The Beast also increases this tally, as does Mausoleum's version of Mom's Heart.
