Some people have reported being resurrected while having this trinket. No further details are known.

I definitely got resurrected as ??? from that trinket, so i added it. I was playing Eden and had no other resurrection items on me. After dying i got resurrected as ??? (further Screens like Boss Battles showed "??? vs.") with 3 Soul Hearts. It probably doesn't work on certain characters (i guess it doesn't work on ???, maybe not even on Azazel or the Lost One)

I can confirm that the resurrection did NOT work while playing as Azazel. No idea if it's a random chance for it to happen or if just doesn't work with certain characters.

No luck with Judas either. Just died and was not revived. Either it's not guaranteed or someone is confusing this with what actually revived them.

EDIT: Just got revived twice in the same run (playing as Isaac)! So I'm assuming it's just a chance to be revived.
