Hidden content speculation

In AB+, keeper was revealed because of an ARG (alt reality game), and Edmund said in an AMA there was still content to be discovered. I feel like, assuming something is hidden along the same lines as last time, TMTRAINER has something to do with it, more specifically its description. --Carmph (talk) 02:42, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

How should stat changes be formatted?

I've been trying to update a bunch of range stat changes since the way range works changed in Repentance, but there's a weird mixture of two formats. Here's an example:

  • (except in Repentance)+5 range
    • (in Repentance)+1.5 range

vs

  • (except in Repentance)+5 range
  • (in Repentance)+1.5 range

Which one is correct? Either way a ton of articles need to be updated, there's lots using both formats. The first one looks more correct to me but I don't wanna make 20 edits where I'm potentially using the wrong format.

To be perfectly honest, I'd say the first is objectively better. Update: The DLC filter makes the 1st entirely disappear, whereas with the second only '(except in Repentance) +5 range' is hidden.--Carmph (talk) 01:56, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

What is stage health???

Title says it all.

Jacob and Esau coop glitch (and others)

If you start a game with jacob and esau then switch from keyboard to controller until you are stuck on the press any button screen, then alt f4 and relaunch your game they will be controlled separately like normal characters. If one dies they become an immortal baby that cant go through doors or interact with consumables however they can still shoot tiny spectral tears and fly.

This next one isn't a bug but an issue with mechanics. *SMALL SPOILER ALERT* if you take glass shard it makes getting the first key piece impossible since you take damage in the white fire and need a red heart to stop the bleeding but often red hearts can not be found in time or at all because of reduced drop rate on hard mode. So it would be nice if the white fire didn't proc the bleeding effect.

I know a way to cheat and I dont wanna make it public knowledge but I want it patched. And no its not an exploit its actual cheating.

Also art of contrition should be in the treasure room because its sort of pointless if you already have angel deals also it would be nice to see it in devil pool. FadedFrank (talk) 15:41, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

1. The game's confusion between multi-character and multiplayer is known and covered in Jacob & Esau bugs, and hopefully known to the developers too by now. 2. The wiki is nothing but spoilers, warnings are unnecessary here; the fire bug has been fixed in the latest patch and white fires do not trigger on-hit effects. 3. Your cheat is probably already public knowledge (such as disabling debug console re-enabling achievements), but if you do not wish to post it anywhere your only chance is to contact the developers directly. 4. Same goes for suggesting item pools. --Frionil (talk) 16:24, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Add crafting recipies to item pages

I would love it if you could put crafting recipies somewhere on each item page. It would help me and a lot of other players who are looking for recipies. Thanks! (My spelling is bad, I know)

Unfortunately this is not going to happen, and not encouraged for anyone to do. They would introduce a lot of extra clutter if spread all over the wiki, and even more importantly will probably have to be removed eventually: the devs have mentioned switching the recipe system to random based on seed instead of static, with only a couple recipes that always work. If that happens, the ones that are guaranteed *will* be added, though. For now you can try https://platinumgod.co.uk/bag-of-crafting/index.html for more flexible options. --Frionil (talk) 22:50, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Why is everything hidden?

Seriously, i need to disable "display: none" on every page i want to look at. Am i missing something? Mnemozin 23:30, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

That's not an issue I've heard reported before, have you tried viewing the site in an incognito window (i.e. not logged in and without any browser extensions active)? --Frionil (talk) 00:06, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

What are DLC- and DLC+?

Sometimes when I'm editing a page I will see 'DLC-' but I don't think I've ever seen DLC+, why is that and what do they even do? TheOfficialTapeDispenser (talk) 18:21, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

dlc+ and dlc- are templates. Dlc+ applies a "DLC context" to everything that follows it until the dlc-; what this means is any DLC tags at or below that level aren't shown in the section between the templates.
As an example, "{{dlc+|r}}Repentance section between dlc+/dlc-: {{dlc|a}} {{dlc|a+}} {{dlc|r}} {{dlc-}}" is shown as "(in Repentance)Repentance section between dlc+/dlc-: ".
Counterexample, "{{dlc|r}}Only a tag, no context: {{dlc|a}} {{dlc|a+}} {{dlc|r}}" is shown as "(in Repentance)Only a tag, no context: (except in Rebirth) (in Afterbirth † and Repentance) (in Repentance)".
It is important to NOT use dlc+ without the corresponding dlc-, or to add excess dlc-'s since they may break tags elsewhere in the page. --Frionil (talk) 18:39, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Antibirth Trivia

  • I noticed some pieces of trivia on some pages that are from Antibirth. So I'm only asking, is it necessary to add trivia from Antibirth? Droid Steel Boi (talk) 21:32, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
Trivia is never exactly necessary, and the quality control on adding it has been a bit slack with the increased activity so there may be too much of it in some of the newer pages still. The basic gist is, if it existed in Antibirth, it's fine to mention briefly, though. --Frionil (talk) 22:01, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
    • Noted! :) Droid Steel Boi (talk) 22:06, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Spoiler Warning

Add a spoiler warning to the home page and certain pages. You could also just add spoiler warnings to the specific parts with the spoilers. --KittenTheSmol1 (talk) 23:57, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

It should be expected that a wiki calling itself a "comprehensive encyclopedia" on a game, with hundreds of articles, does not hide any information. There will be no spoiler tagging or warnings on any individual pages, but I could see the argument for making it very clear by having a mention on the main page. --Frionil (talk) 00:22, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

Who do I have to talk to in order to get this ugly website layout redesign reverted?

Seriously, this looks awful compared to how it used to be. There's big bars of empty space on the side, the new bar on the left clashes with the colour scheme, and it's ruined the perfectly functional layout of some of the pages. You now have to scroll over in order to view the full Collection Pages, when the design from literally earlier today had it all visible. Whose idea was this and who do I have to talk to in order to go back to the old design, even if it's just as a setting that can be toggled on a user-by-user basis? Misirter E (talk) 14:12, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

Unfortunately side/top/etc. bars are beyond what we're allowed to customize per wiki, but we've been trying to match the new skin to the old layout and density a bit better; expect some more adjustments later. You can let us know about layout problems in particular pages in the corresponding Talk pages and we can try to make adjustments (basically, if it's on the "Isaac basement background" area of the page, that we might be able to work on). You can (for the time being) revert to the old skin by choosing HydraDark in Special:Preferences while logged in, but to my understanding the old skin will not be an option forever. There are also some options to change the new skin layout there, and if you know CSS, you can make a personal stylesheet (the custom CSS link in the above page). As for feedback on the skin and overall changes, that would have to go to Fandom themselves, for instance like https://www.fandom.com/about#contact or community.fandom.com or something. --Frionil (talk) 14:27, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

Agreed on this, there's more wasted space on my monitor per pixels than there are used, and especially with the site's large text, a "This article is incomplete" message means that I can only read one or two lines of the actual article before I have to scroll. --Nexvvthree (talk) 15:26, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

That is at least an issue that can be fixed to some degree -- see the above Special:Preferences/Appearance and choose content width: expanded and right rail: hide. As to why the default settings are so aggressively wasteful, I'm afraid I don't know. --Frionil (talk) 16:03, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

Hiya I'm fairly new to the wiki: used it alot over the year and only recently started adding in info, I really hate the new layout and am certain they will change it if enough people send the sugestion (via fandom help page) by including a link to tboi's wiki-page and mentioning you don't like the new design. Honestly I can't use the community like this since the search bar doesn't even work in the steam overlay browser, which kinda defeats the whole point of using the wiki. I agree that the people running this page have made this look much better than the default schemes that other communities use and that there currently is nothing we can do about the wasted space, so please consider contacting gamepedia and sending them feedback. --Sdaniaal (talk) 19:25, 14 June 2021 (UTC)sdaniaal

I figured that we all moved from the OG Isaac wiki because Gamepedia has less wasted space and bloat and a greater amount of customization than Wikia. Is there any particular reason we've gone full circle? --FunkMans (talk) 01:07, 15 June 2021 (UT C)

The fact that I have to click an 'expand' button that doesn't persist between pages really rubs it in, Wikia/Fandom really don't care about the user experience. If someone could fork the wiki's content elsewhere then that would be lovely. 222.152.83.18 04:52, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

After a lengthy chat with support on suggestion of Frionil, I was able to reach a few conclusions. The old HydraDark layout will be unceremoniously murdered this summer, actionable feedback is just an excuse to tell you why you're wrong, Fandom encompasses over 270,000 wikis and I think a few thousand of them might even have more than 10 pages, big black bars of absolutely nothing that you have to actively turn off are good actually, a disclaimer turning from three lines to half the page height is cool and normal, and if you have a problem with having to minimize the gigantic sidebar with nothing useful in it on literally every page, clearly implementing cookies is too much work and you should just go to your user settings to fix it you imbecile. Long live web design. Misirter E (talk) 19:10, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

How to add items to Familiar Modifier or other navigation tables?

Idk if it happens automatically, but if it doesn't I don't know how to add it. TheOfficialTapeDispenser (talk) 07:27, 9 July 2021 (UTC)

It's manual, edit Template:nav, make sure to use source edit so you're certain not to break anything. Some sub-navs use sub-templates. --Frionil (talk) 18:10, 9 July 2021 (UTC)

less spoilery navigation thumbnails for the main page?

i think the images for "completion marks" and "endings" are a little too... spoilery? like, if you're going to use the post-it note, use a normal blank one, not a tainted post-it with delirium killed. also, for endings, you can just use the first frame of the Epilogue ending, with Isaac backed into the corner, though i suppose that one's less of an immediate issue. --71.115.226.71 20:26, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Fair points, I brought this up in the Discord. --Thoughtcast (talk) 21:31, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Item Collection page no longer has "on hover" Tooltips

I noticed there has been some design changes recently, was this caught in the crossfire by mistake? There was previously a tooltip with the first paragraph of an item page and a small picture when you hovered an item on the collection page. That is either no longer there, or it's no longer loading for only me. Anyone else experiencing this issue, or know how to resolve it? --PinkMonkeyBird (talk) January 2022 (UTC)

Wiki.gg migration?

So, we all know that we are stuck with a ridiculously awful looking wiki if we stay here, but not all hope is lost. The official Terraria wiki completely migrated from fandom and gamepedia to wiki.gg. This is not an advertisement of any sorts, I'm not sponsored at all here, I'm just a fellow wiki user who would rather use a not dogshit looking wiki and knows of a website that may have out salvation.

I think it would be a great step forward to move away from the sinking ship that is Fandom. Wiki.gg is a great choice, and they make the forking process effortless by handling all the backend stuff for you (speaking from experience). Self-hosting could also work if the wiki owners are willing, a-la the Megaten wiki, but that path would take significantly more time, effort, and (most importantly) money.
