The Para-Bite is a monster introduced in the vanilla content of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. They can be only encountered in Chapter 4.

It will move around the room until Isaac appears in its line of sight, prompting it to charge towards him and can deal a full heart of contact damage. They're also able to move underground and pop up in a different location, although they cannot spawn right under Isaac.

Scarred Para-Bites are a variant of Para-Bites added in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth DLC.

They behave similarly to regular Para-Bites and occasionally fire a short-ranged blood shot towards Isaac.

Notes

• Pure Magenta Champion Scarred Para-Bites will shoot two blood shots at different intervals.

• The Para-Bite first appear in the original Flash version of The Binding of Isaac.
• The name Para-Bite is a portmanteau of the words parasite and bite, with parasite meaning an organism that lives in or on another organism and benefits from it at the host's expense.
• The Para-Bite's sprite was based off of a character from an old comic Edmund made, whose name was Longits.
• The attack pattern of the Para-Bite was based off of an enemy in the Zelda series.
