Isaac's Tears is an unlockable activated item.

Effects

  • Each tear shot by the player increases item charge by one.
  • Upon use, fires 8 tears around Isaac, which retain the damage, range, shot speed, and most special tear effects of his tears.
    • (in Repentance) Tears from this item have a +5 flat damage bonus.

Notes

  • The effect of Collectible Tammy's Head icon.pngTammy's Head is similar to Isaac's Tears, but Isaac's Tears will not benefit from tear-replacing items like Collectible Brimstone icon.pngBrimstone.
  • (in Rebirth and Afterbirth) It takes 1.3 seconds to use, during which time Isaac cannot shoot tears normally. Because of this it is only worth it to use Isaac's tears DPS-wise if 4 or more tears successfully land.
    • (in Afterbirth † and Repentance) It takes 0.4 seconds to use, during which time Isaac cannot shoot tears normally.
    • (in Repentance) It takes 0.1 seconds to use, short enough that it usually will not interrupt shooting tears normally.

Synergies

  • (in Repentance) Collectible The Book of Belial icon.pngThe Book of Belial + Collectible Birthright icon.pngBirthright as Character Judas icon.pngJudas / Character Dark Judas icon.pngDark Judas: Fires a ring of 10 tears instead of 8, the tears are piercing and spectral, and the tears deal 1.4 × Judas' damage, plus a flat 5.
  • (in Repentance)Collectible Book of Virtues icon.pngBook of Virtues: Summons six wisps at a time, in the middle ring. Using Isaac's Tears destroys the previous set of wisps. The wisps are automatically destroyed after three seconds.
  • (in Repentance)Collectible Car Battery icon.pngCar Battery: The damage of tears from the item is doubled.

Interactions

    • (in Rebirth and Afterbirth) The item fires normal tears, although it will charge nearly instantly while the attack charges.
    • (in Afterbirth †) Fires normal tears. Charges at the same rate as Isaac's fire rate while charging Brimstone/Mom's Knife.
    • (in Repentance) Fires normal tears. Charges when firing Brimstone/Mom's Knife.
    • Brimstone + (in Afterbirth † and Repentance)Collectible Lachryphagy icon.pngLachryphagy: When tears burst, they will shoot out Brimstone lasers in a fashion similar to Collectible Tammy's Head icon.pngTammy's Head.
  • (in Afterbirth and Afterbirth †)Collectible Car Battery icon.pngCar Battery: No effect.
  • Collectible Chocolate Milk icon.pngChocolate Milk:
    • (except in Repentance) The size and damage of tears fired depend on how far Isaac has charged up his shot. For example, if Isaac has completely charged his shot, the tears fired by the item will be fully charged.
    • (in Repentance) Charge does not have any effect on the damage of the tear, but will still be colored like Chocolate Milk tears.
  • Collectible Dr. Fetus icon.pngDr. Fetus: Fires normal tears.
  • Collectible Epic Fetus icon.pngEpic Fetus:
    • (except in Repentance) The item fires normal tears, but charges very quickly as the crosshairs are moved.
    • (in Repentance) The item charges even while the crosshair is not moving, with the speed based on Isaac's tears stat.
  • (in Repentance)Collectible Eye of the Occult icon.pngEye of the Occult: Makes the tears controllable and able to be made most use of.
  • Collectible The Ludovico Technique icon.pngThe Ludovico Technique:
