IX - The Hermit? is an unlockable card added in The Binding of Isaac: Repentance.

Effects

  • Turns items, trinkets, and pickups in the room into Penny.pngCoins, essentially selling them.
    • All items will be sold for 15¢, including items that usually have a different price in the shop, such as R Key.
    • Other pickups and trinkets are sold for their normal ShopShop price.
    • If there is nothing to sell, drops a single Penny.pngPenny.

Notes

  • Chests cannot be sold.
  • Selling an item in a Boss Challenge RoomBoss Challenge Room or Boss RushBoss Rush does not cause waves of bosses to spawn.
  • If used in a room with a choice of multiple item pedestals, only one of the choice objects will be sold and the rest will disappear.

Strategy

  • For maximum profit, any card, rune, pill or trinket should be gathered to the same room before using IX - The Hermit?.
  • Since cheap or discounted shop items are still converted to the full 15 cents, this can be used to generate profit.

Synergies

  • Tarot Cloth: Spawns 1 additional Penny.pngPenny.
  • Moving Box: Allows for transport of items and pickups to the same room. Making more money from one use of IX - The Hermit?.

Interactions

  • Dad's Note: Not affected by IX - The Hermit?. If the room only has Dad's Note, a Penny.pngPenny will spawn.
  • Character Tainted ??? icon.pngTainted ???: Poop pickups can't be sold.

  • IX - The Hermit?'s effect is based directly on the Rune of Fehu from Antibirth. No other Antibirth rune was adapted into Repentance.
