Counterfeit Penny is an unlockable trinket.

Effects

  • Gives a chance, upon picking up a coin, to increase the value of that coin by 1.
    • (except in Repentance and Repentance+) 50% chance.
    • (in Repentance and Repentance+) The chance is based on the coin's worth:[1]

  • This trinket can be found from destroying Golden Poop and (except in Rebirth)Special Shopkeepers.
  • (except in Rebirth) Counterfeit Penny allows the chance for Character Keeper icon.pngKeeper / (in Repentance and Repentance+) Character Tainted Keeper icon.pngTainted Keeper to gain the full value of a coin while healing, or to heal 2 coin hp from a single penny.
  • (in Repentance and Repentance+) If picked up by Character Jacob and Esau icon.pngJacob and Esau, only the brother holding Counterfeit Penny can trigger the effect.

Interactions

  • (in Repentance+)Golden TrinketGolden Trinket / (in Repentance+)Mom's Box: Having either gives the chance to increase the value of collected coins by 2. Having both by 3.
