The Caves is the second chapter of Rebirth. The Caves' unlockable variants are the Catacombs and the Flooded Caves. It features more decayed enemies than the first chapter, with the main theme being worms and boils.
After A Secret Exit is unlocked, a boarded door similar to the one leading to a Bedroom will appear in this floor's Boss Room upon defeating the boss, leading to the Mines / Ashpit. This door, like a Bedroom, requires two bombs to be opened. Unlike Angel Rooms and Devil Rooms, this door never disappears.

- The music in the caves is titled Sodden Hollow.[1]
- The word "sodden" in the name is used to describe the damp, wet appearance of the caves.
